Heart 2 Heart Mission

The shortage of hospitals and surgical equipment are the primary barriers to quality healthcare in the Philippines. Half of the people who live in the Philippines reside in rural areas of the country where there are sometimes no licensed medical doctors and ill-equipped facilities with broken medical devices. We aim to provide good quality medical assistance and equipment to help medical staff excel in their role.

FNGH TEAM TRAVELLED TO THE PHILIPPINES

FROM THE USA, AUSTRALIA AND MEXICO

Aug 20, 2022 - Sep 3, 2022

On 29 May 2021, Rotary International approved our Global Grant (GG2125309) for funding to provide local and international pediatric heart surgeries (Hybrid VTT) for children in the Philippines.  This was a joint submission by Clubs in District 3800 and District 7690.

Funded by The Rotary Foundation.

Grant Objectives

In the Philippines, heart disease is the leading cause of death in children. Without intervention, the prognosis of a child born with Critical Congenital Heart Defects (CCHD) and CVD is low.  FNGH missions engage pediatric cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons to provide life saving surgical procedures to children before their condition deteriorates and results in death.

Our services include;

  • Developing sustainable programs for mothers to receive free health screening, educational training about CVD and other preventable diseases.

  • Providing educational training for women to reduce the incidence and prevention of children born with heart defects and other diseases.

  • Enabling early diagnosis and treatment for many types of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) which is beyond the financial or educational means for the vulnerable/indigent populations in the world.
